For a great way to stand out from the crowd, make sure to include information about your lab’s sustainability efforts in research presentations, papers, and grant proposals. This will also help bring light to the Green Labs movement and hopefully encourage others to start making changes in their own labs.
We especially encourage you to include information about your sustainable lab practices in your grant applications. The International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories has a University Alliance Group that promotes the efficient spending of federal and non-profit sponsor research funds through sustainable practices via the Bringing Efficiency to Research (BETR) Grants program.
For ideas on how and where to include sustainable lab practices in research grant applications (such as the “Broader Impacts” section of NSF proposals or “Resources and Environment” sections of NIH proposals), check out the BETR Grants website.
