The University recognizes the use of pressure vessels on University property may threaten the safety of the University community, and disturb the educational goals of the University. This program will establish a safe environment on campus when pressure vessels are used, and to prevent incidents associated with this equipment. UT Austin students, faculty, staff, and visitors with pressure systems operating above 15 psi on UT Austin property with a pressure vessel are subject to this program.
Pressure system components that are purchased from a manufacturer, ASME Section VIII Code Shop fabricated, or a combination of the two are subject to all the requirements of this program. Follow all manufacturer’s specifications, American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), and all applicable regulations. Pressure vessels needing modifications require changes to be made by an approved ASME Section VIII Code Shop.
